A lockdown at SUNY Purchase has been lifted after reports of an armed man on or around campus Sunday evening.

People in the area had told News 12 that gunshots were heard not too far away in the woods near the Doral Arrowood hotel. There were also unconfirmed reports that nearby Manhattanville College was placed on lockdown.

Police from a dozen departments, as well as a canine unit, were investigating on and around the campus.

News 12 learned that texts were sent to students and residents asking them to stay indoors during the investigation.
