Two highly anticipated blockbusters hit theaters this weekend - “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” and both films are expected to vie for the top spot at the box office.
Local theaters are hoping these two films will bring back the summer blockbuster movie series and have more people coming to the theaters.
SHU Community Theatre had screenings of “Barbie” Thursday night.
"I think we're very lucky to have arrived at this time, it shows good trend for people coming back out for entertainment and we're here to support and encourage that," said Matt Oestreicher, executive director at SHU Community Theater.
Both films open Friday.
