Take a Road Trip Close to Home to live the local lake life for a day on Lake Mahopac.

Mahopac Marina offers a fleet of seven pontoon rentals for you and up to 12 people to spend the day out on the water.

"We show you how to anchor it, we show you how to drive the boat back and forth from the dock, and if you need something, you call," said Mahopac Marina owner Charlie Melchner.

Experience isn't required to rent. It's that simple once you're briefed.

At full throttle, you'll only travel about 5 miles per hour on the pontoon.

Mahopac Marina is open six days a week to either walk-in or reserve ahead.

"Everyone is wowed at the beauty of Lake Mahopac," Melchner said. "Especially if you live within an hour of us, you can come and do this and spend the day, they're blown away by it!"

Your adventures don't have to end there.

Back at the dock, and up the road is Lakehouse Restaurant and Bar. It's a local business that serves up delicious Italian-American dishes.

Indoor and outdoor seating offers dreamscape views right on the water. It's a great place to watch the sunset and wrap up a summer staycation to remember.
