The family of a White Plains college student murdered nearly a decade ago joined hundreds of people on a run with the goal of making college campuses safer.
The 10th annual Lindsey Run kicked off at SUNY Purchase College Sunday morning.
The 5K is named after Lindsey Bonistall, a 20-year-old University of Delaware sophomore who was raped and murdered in her off-campus apartment in 2005.
Bonistall's killer, James Cooke Jr., was originally sentenced to death by lethal injection. His execution date has been postponed as he appeals his case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
