Lifeguard shortage leads to pay above minimum wage

The Hudson Valley is in need of more lifeguards for this swimming season with some areas paying as much as $16 an hour.
Westchester County has expanded its lifeguard application by lowering the age requirement to 15.
First-time lifeguards in Greenburgh get $14.50 an hour, slightly above Westchester's minimum wage of $14.
In Rockland, Clarkstown is paying $14 an hour, which is above the county's minimum wage of $12.50.
