It's Pride Month and there are new steps being taken to make sure members of the LGBTQ+ community get the veteran benefits they deserve.
New York veterans, who were previously denied honorable discharges due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, can now begin submitting applications under "The Restoration of Honor Act."
Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the announcement Sunday as many celebrated Pride with parades and events.
The act will allow members of the community to have their veteran benefits restored.
