LGBTQ+ community center in Westchester to hold monkeypox vaccination clinic
An LGBTQ+ community center in Westchester will be one of the first in the nation to hold an on-campus monkeypox vaccination clinic later this week as the state steps up its efforts to combat the virus.

375ds agoAn LGBTQ+ community center in Westchester will be one of the first in the nation to hold an on-campus monkeypox vaccination clinic later this week as the state steps up its efforts to combat the virus.
The Loft in White Plains will hold that clinic on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. for people 18 and older.
There are now 1,100 confirmed monkeypox cases statewide, including 34 across the Lower Hudson Valley.
New York expanded its testing ability after accepting Quest Diagnostics' application to administer PCR tests.
Counties like Westchester have just secured an added 4,500 doses of the monkeypox vaccine for local clinics.
"That's a very important number as we try to get ahead of what might be the transmission of the disease," says Westchester County Executive George Latimer.
Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla will begin offering a monkeypox vaccine drive-thru clinic with appointments opening Tuesday.
