The candidates for Yonkers City Council president squared off Tuesday in a debate sponsored by the city's Chamber of Commerce.
Incumbent Chuck Lesnick, a Democrat, is hoping to hold off a challenge from Republican Jim Castro-Blanco. Both candidates addressed questions about the economy, public safety and gang violence.
The City Council president election is the only citywide race being put before voters this year.
