An ex-convict who police say hit a Yonkers detective in Mount Vernon and ran off is finally behind bars.
Leroi Bouche, 27, was arrested by police Wednesday afternoon. Bouche is accused of hitting a Yonkers officer with his car near Station Place and Lafayette Avenue Friday in Mount Vernon.
The police chase for Bouche prompted two dozen neighborhood schools into a lockdown. Businesses were even forced to close up shop as the manhunt unfolded.
People who work and live in the area say they are more at ease knowing the man with a violent past is behind bars.
Police say Bouche did not resist when he was arrested today in the Bronx. He is being charged with attempted aggravated assault of a police officer.
