New legislation in Rockland County was proposed on Monday to rename a roadway in honor of former Councilman Hector L. Soto.
State Sen. Bill Weber says he the legislation would rename a section of Route 202 between Rosman Road and Route 45.
Soto died in April 2023 after having served in the Air Force and with the Haverstraw Police Department.
"We know that somewhere, dad is smiling down on all of us today, humble, as always, but proud to see his family and community united,” said Daphne Reynoso, Soto’s daughter.
Weber plans for the approval of the renaming to be passed in the next legislative session.
