New York lawmakers are calling on the Department of Health for an audit of COVID-19 nursing home deaths.
The call comes after state Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett testified she would not review the state's past pandemic policies.
Sens. Sue Serino and Jim Tedisco announced legislation that would compel the commission to proceed with the audit.
They're also introducing legislation marking March 25 as 'We Care Remembrance Day' in honor of nursing home residents who died during the pandemic.
