A top lawmaker on the Assembly Judiciary Committee's impeachment probe says former Gov. Andrew Cuomo could soon be facing additional criminal charges.

Assemblyman Michael Montesano says the charges potentially coming to the former governor would be based on his handling of nursing home deaths during the pandemic, as well as the sexual harassment allegations detailed in the attorney general's report this week.

"It's needed and necessary for people to have closure, especially when it comes to the nursing home scandal, the book and hostile work environment and other things that have been investigated " Montesano says. "The affected people need closure--especially those people that lost loved ones. Fifteen-thousand people died in nursing homes and there has to be accountability about what was altered in the report--the obstruction charges--things of that nature."

Montesano says the report could be released to the public in as soon as two to three weeks.

Possible charges would be made by the attorney general or a local district attorney's office.

Cuomo is already set to be arraigned in January on a misdemeanor related to forcible touching allegations.
