The Yonkers Police Benevolent Association and eight other law enforcement associations have thrown their support behind Democratic incumbent Mayor Mike Spano for re-election.
The groups comprise about 20,000 police officers across New York state.
Spano's opponent, Republican Bill Nuckel, witnessed the endorsement firsthand Wednesday morning. The proclamations came a day after Nuckel said that there is too much political influence in the Yonkers Police Department during the candidates' first debate.
Election Day is Nov. 3.
