An hours-long standoff between police and a man barricaded inside a home in Pleasant Valley has ended.

It started around 11 a.m. Monday at a home on Route 44 near Wilbur Road.
Authorities with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office say they were trying to serve an arrest warrant.

Shortly after deputies got there, they claim the suspect armed himself with a knife and barricaded himself inside a room in the home.

After more than five hours, members of the Emergency Service Unit entered the room and took the man into custody.

His identity hasn't been released.

The scene outside the home has since cleared.

Deputies say there is no threat to the public.
