A Vietnam veteran in Suffern had his home renovated by volunteers from “Purple Heart Homes.”
The outdoor renovations include a new wheelchair ramp, a new porch light and a storm door. Inside, there is a new easy-access shower stall with a new vanity and sink.
Michael Lennon, 80, was overwhelmed by the generosity.
"To tell you the truth, I feel like crying," he said. “…It took fine people like this who had the generosity of their heart…I'm amazed that these men had such skills."
The no-cost home renovations took three months to complete.
“This is going to make him a lot more secure, a lot more comfortable and also, I believe, prolong his life," said Eugene Parrotta, of Purple Heart Homes.
