The Kwanzaa holiday, which was founded in 1966, has officially begun and celebrations are underway throughout Westchester.
To commemorate the holiday, people celebrated the 4th principle of UJAMAA, which means cooperative economics. The ceremony highlighted the importance of African-American business.
Steppers from a high school in White Plains also took part in the ceremony.
The holiday kicked off on Dec. 26 and runs through New Year's Day.
