Authorities say a carjacker was shot and killed by police in Dutchess County after he threatened them with a knife.
The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. Thursday near Exit 11 on I-84, just east of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
State police say that officers were chasing the man after he abandoned a vehicle he had carjacked. They say the man then hopped a divider and disappeared into the woods.
According to police, the suspect was fatally shot by police after he threatened them with a knife.
State police have not yet released the identity of the man.
