A community is coming together to help a young boy from Dobbs Ferry who has been diagnosed with a fatal brain disease.
Jacob Moon, 9, was diagnosed with Sanfilippo, an Alzheimer's-like disease in children, two years ago.
The disease prevents his body from breaking down natural cellular waste, which greatly affects his brain.
His ability to do many things on his own will eventually diminish. There is no cure.
Children with Sanfilippo often never live past their teenage years.
Patti Hartnett, a friend of the Moon family, is organizing a kickball fundraiser at Gould Park in Dobbs Ferry this Saturday to raise money for Jacob's medical bills and for the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation.
