The fate of the longtime Ramapo town supervisor is now in the hands of the jury.

After four weeks of testimony and millions of pages in documents, the jury is deciding if Christopher St. Lawrence is guilty of corruption charges.

The jury deliberated for five hours Thursday but did not reach a verdict.

St. Lawrence is facing 22 counts of federal securities and wire fraud. Prosecutors claim that he repeatedly lied about the town's finances in order to get better deals on $25 million in municipal bonds he borrowed to build a ballpark in the town.

St. Lawrence has repeatedly denied all of the allegations. His lawyer insists no one lost any money and that all the bonds were paid on time.

St. Lawrence didn't take the stand in his own defense, so the burden rests with prosecutors to prove their allegations that they outlined in those 22 counts.

On Thursday afternoon, the jury requested some testimony from two key witnesses. They will receive the information on Friday morning when they return to deliberate.
