A Bronx man accused of killing an off-duty police officer was found guilty Thursday.
A jury found Steven Armento guilty of first-degree murder after one day of deliberations. Armento faces life in prison without parole. Armento's co-defendant in the case, former "Sopranos" actor Lillo Brancato Jr., is scheduled to be tried separately next month.
Officials say police Officer Daniel Enchautegui, 28, was shot and killed in 2005 during a confrontation with the two burglars outside his home in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx.
Enchautegui had returned home after finishing a late shift when he heard glass breaking at the house next door. When he went to investigate, Armento fired at him, striking him in the chest.
