Newburgh firefighters battled a fire that spread to a nearby garage on the morning of July 4.
Firefighters responded to 176 Renwick St. after the garage went up in flames.
They found several gallons of motor oil improperly stored outside near the fire.
Some of the motor oil entered the city’s storm drain system as crews fought the blaze.
The city’s hazardous materials team helped clean up the spill.
