A state Supreme Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by several customers over Central Hudson’s gas and electric billing system.
The customers claimed they received bogus bills, were sent other customers’ bills and were billed multiple times in a single month.
In her ruling, the judge pointed to a 2024 agreement Central Hudson reached with the Public Service Commission. Under the agreement, the utility agreed to pay for fixes to its billing system and move to monthly meter readings.
In a statement, Central Hudson acknowledged the frustration the billing issues caused some customers and said it is focused on rebuilding and strengthening trust within the communities it serves.
An attorney for the customers was contacted for comment but has not responded.
