The New York Mets stole headlines this winter – signing All-Star outfielder Juan Soto to a 15-year deal much to the dismay of their crosstown rivals.
News 12's Kevin Maher was in Port St. Lucie at spring training when the $765 million man arrived at camp.
“I'm going to give 100% every day,” he said during a news conference. “Glad for the career I've had so far, but I'm really hungry for more.”
Also at spring training were hundreds of Mets fans who wanted to get a glimpse of their new favorite Met.
One fan is expecting “multiple championships.”
“It's the beginning of a golden era,” he said. “We got [Soto] for 15-years. I expect five [championships].”
