Gov. David Paterson spoke before a joint session of the Legislature Monday to lay out his plans for tackling the state's budget crisis.
Paterson urged the joint session to enact his cost-cutting plan during a special session Tuesday. The governor has proposed cuts to education, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Medicaid spending.
But many members of the governor's own Democratic Party have called his plan too drastic and have vowed to propose an alternative.
