A Dutchess County man was arrested, accused of threatening to kill a member of Congress, who has now been identified as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
State police and the FBI arrested 34-year-old Christopher Moynihan of Clinton last Saturday for making a terroristic threat.
Felony complaint
Police said Moynihan made threats to kill a member of Congress, though they did not name Jeffries in their initial statement.
Moynihan was also among those arrested for storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and was later pardoned by President Trump on his first day in office.
Jeffries released a statement thanking state and federal law enforcement for their swift and decisive action. He said threats of violence will not stop lawmakers from “showing up, standing up and speaking up for the American people.”
Moynihan is being held in the Dutchess County Jail and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Clinton Court on Thursday.
