The tour was created to bring attention to cuts in Washington that the group says will impact working people.
As News 12 has reported, the White House says the One Big Beautiful Bill, which passed in Washington this summer, would provide "the largest tax cut in history," and increase the Child Tax Credit.
But labor groups say that will come at a cost to other programs.
"Ripping away food from our children and our seniors, hutting funding from our schools...that our hospitals need...voting to give tax cuts to billionaires. Instead of working families who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads," said Liz Shuler, president of the AFL-CIO.
A spokesperson for Rep. Mike Lawler provided the following statement:
“Congressman Mike Lawler received historic levels of support from organized labor and working families in his 2024 re-election, has been praised by national labor leaders as a bipartisan champion on labor issues, and the National Teamsters Union recently donated to his campaign. His vote to provide tens of thousands of union workers in NY-17 with an average increase in take home pay of over $3,500 is a victory for taxpayers. Sadly the National AFL-CIO political bosses are too busy playing partisan politics to care.”
