A woman tells News 12 she was home on Thursday when a school bus crashed into her New Hempstead home on Southgate Drive.
"I heard like one bang, probably the cars first. Then I heard another crash," she says. "Next thing I know, I run outside, and I see a bus in my house."
The woman did not want to show her face on camera but says her family had just gone to work and school when the crash occurred.
She had left the dining room moments before the bus smacked into that same room's outer wall.
"We're just all happy that thank God we're all OK. And hopefully all the kids are OK. And it could've been worse," she says.
The home is temporarily fixed while insurance gets sorted out.
Investigators are still working to figure out what caused the bus to go off the road.
Ramapo police say no charges have yet been filed against the 37-year-old bus driver, all pending an investigation.
Police also say that that two boys who were on the bus are still in Westchester Medical Center in stable condition.
