STORM WATCH: A summer feeling may fuel strong storms

Humidity levels will rise Saturday along with the potential of seeing some severe weather. Will the entire weekend be unsettled in the Hudson Valley?

There will be a threat of strong to severe thunderstorms on the way for the beginning of the weekend.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Be on the lookout for storms to roll through 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with more sunshine to come around afterwards. The sun, plus the lingering moisture, will make the air feel like summer. Many locations will see daytime highs get into the 80s. Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms may come late in the day. Any storms that do come around could produce damaging winds and small hail. The threat of tornadoes is out there, mainly across Dutchess and Ulster Counties. Although the chance is low, it is not something to overlook.

Sunday will be feeling drier, with less humidity around. That is because a cold front will come through overnight, helping to sweep out a fair amount of moisture. Expect a mix of sun and clouds, with warm temps.

Next week starts off nice and pleasant but by mid-week, rain showers are forecast to return and last the rest of the workweek. This is all leading up to the all-important "unofficial start of summer," Memorial Day Weekend.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

SATURDAY: STORM WATCH - Partly cloudy, with a chance of rain and isolated thunderstorms in the morning to midday hours. There will also be building levels of humidity through the afternoon. Another chance for storms will be possible late in the day. Highs: Low 80s. Lows: Upper 50s to low 60s.

SUNDAY: A mix of sun and clouds, with windy conditions at times. Highs: Low 70s. Lows: Upper 40s to low 50s.

MONDAY: Partly cloudy and breezy at times. Highs: Upper 60s to low 70s. Lows: Upper 40s to low 50s.

TUESDAY: Mix of sun and clouds. Highs: Upper 60s to low 70s. Lows: Upper 40s to low 50s.

WEDNESDAY: Mainly cloudy, with a chance of rain for the second half of the day. Highs: Low 60s. Lows: Low 50s.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy, with a chance of rain. Highs: Upper 50s to low 60s. Lows: Upper 40s.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy, with a chance of rain. Highs: Low 60s. Lows: Mid-40s.
