The Irvington Police Department has successfully gathered nearly $5,000 for cancer research through their 'No Shave November – Double Down December' fundraising initiative. In a recent Facebook post, the department announced a total donation of $4,810 to Swim Across America, aimed at supporting cancer research and patient programs.
This year's chosen organization, Swim Across America, was specifically selected at the request of Ken Walsh, brother of the late Detective David Walsh. Detective Walsh lost his battle with brain cancer in July 2022. Following David's diagnosis, Ken initiated fundraising efforts and participated in swimming events to support the cause.
The Irvington Police Department emphasized that this year's fundraiser was a means to honor Detective Walsh's legacy and continue his compassionate support for individuals in need of assistance.
