IPods are turning many Bronx residents into theft victims, according to the NYPD.
Police say a boy was robbed as recently as Friday for his iPod. Police blame a rise in 2005 subway thefts on the widespread use of the music devices, which retail for about $350 from Apple. Most of the victims are usually students on their way to and from school.
Police advise iPod users to buy earpieces that are a different color than the standard white that Apple offers. They also urge residents to hide the device in clothing and turn down the volume to attract less attention.
