New Rochelle held its annual awards ceremony and memorial service Tuesday as part of National Police Week.

Iona University student Sofia Wylie, from Miller Place on Long Island, was honored for rushing to help after a serious motorcycle crash in October. She saw the crash and helped an injured driver, according to police.

"It wasn't all me, it's part of a bigger plan but I'm really grateful to receive this award," Wylie said after receiving the Citizen of the Year Award.

Detective Adalberto Aguilar was named Police Officer of the Year.

"It means everything to me," Aguilar said. "It's not just a me award, it's for the entire traffic unit. I didn't do all these investigations by myself."

The ceremony was held at the Greentree Country Club.
