A 34-year-old Middletown man sexually assaulted a child, authorities say.

The Orange County Child Abuse Unit arrested Cecilio Navarro on Tuesday.

Investigators say he engaged in sexual contact with a child younger than 15.

He was charged with rape in the second and third degrees, as well as predatory sex assault against a child.

Navarro was arraigned in Newburgh Court and remanded to Orange County Jail.
