The dangers of the Internet were underscored last week when authorities announced the arrests of 71 people for allegedly trading photos and videos online of children in compromising situations.
Alvin Joseph, the director of the Institute for Internet Safety, joined Lisa Reyes in the News 12 studios today to discuss how families can stay safe online.
Joseph says it is very important to monitor what your kids are doing online and what they are posting on social media sites.
He adds that any pictures that get posted online can take on a life of their own and be downloaded by anyone in the world. This can lead to numerous safety and legal problems.
