Police say an incident prompted a large law enforcement response in a North Massapequa neighborhood Monday.

Nassau police say officers responded to a home at 285 North Oak St. around 8:45 a.m. for a family disturbance. Police say one person was injured.

Detectives have remained at the scene throughout the day, with multiple streets closed as the investigation continued.

Police vehicles and crime scene tape are prevented access to the area surrounding the home.

Neighbors said they were surprised to wake up to such a significant police presence in what they described as a quiet neighborhood.

“I woke up and looked outside, and all I saw were police officers, an ambulance and a crime scene unit. I had no idea what had happened. I went down the street, but everything was closed off. I was just shocked,” said neighbor Jake McCluskey.

Police have not released additional information about the person who was injured or what led to the family disturbance.
