Injured bear spotted in Greenburgh

A bear with an injured right raw has been seen limping around Dobbs Ferry.
The bear was seen in people backyards searching for food, and eating the seeds put out for the birds.
“They've called animal control, they've called the state DEC and nothing is being done," says Paul Feiner, Greenburgh town supervisor.
According to the states Department of Environmental Conservation polices, an animal must be unable to move on its own, or pose a danger to itself or others in order for it to be removed.
The D.E.C says they will monitor the situation, but the public shouldn’t be afraid because black bears usually avoids people.
Animal control experts say, if you encounter a bear don’t run away. Instead, they say stay calm and try to make noises or clap loudly to scare it away.
