Federal regulators conducted tests Tuesday at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in Buchanan after a small radioactive leak was detected.

Entergy spokesman Jim Steets says traces of two radioactive materials were once again found in the wells surrounding Indian Point. Steets says Entergy plans to continue digging wells around the plant to ensure there are no more problems. Entergy says the original leak was contained back in September. Steets says the radioactive material Entergy recently found in the water is most likely coming from another leak and finding it is Entergy?s priority.

Local emergency officials back Entergy, saying there was no threat to public safety. They also say the levels of radioactive particles found were near or below amounts permitted for safe drinking water.
