Nuclear reactor number three at Indian Point has been shut down because of a faulty sensor.
A sensor detected a reactor pressure change around noon yesterday. The cause of the false signal is under investigation.
Officials say the plant in Buchanan is still operating, and the shutdown shouldn't cause outages to about a million homes since demand isn't at peak levels.
A spokesperson from Entergy, the company that operates the facility, says there was no release of radiation or threat to workers or the public.
