IBM on Tuesday announced a plan to close its sprawling campus in Somers next year.
The tech giant says it plans to sell the facility on Route 100 and make its final move by March of next year. The sprawling campus, which covers nearly 730 acres, employs around 2,000 workers.
Somers Town Supervisor Rick Morrissey says Somers is in good financial shape. Morrissey also expects the town to stay under its current tax cap after the tech giant goes.
The move marks the second major company departure in Somers this year. PepsiCo exited its 200-acre campus earlier this year.
IBM officials say the current plan is to move all of its Somers employees, without any job cuts, to an existing company space in North Castle.
IBM's Somers campus reportedly houses the company's global services, software and systems technology groups.
