Hurricane Grill & Wings owner submits plans to build mixed-use building in City of Newburgh with 58 apartments

The owner of Hurricane Grill & Wings on Broadway in the City of Newburgh hopes to convert the property to a mixed-use building with dozens of apartments and commercial space.
News 12 obtained the design plans from the City of Newburgh that were submitted to the city by the Poughkeepsie-based firm KARC Planning Consultants, Inc. on Sept. 9, 2023.
It calls for 58 apartments and 7,400 square feet of retail space.
Neighbors alerted News 12 to the project and raised parking concerns. They said that on-street parking is already limited at the location.
The design plans call for 96 parking spaces. KARC Planning Consultants, Inc. noted in their application that its 27 more than what’s required by the city’s zoning code for the number of units and commercial space.
News 12 reached out to the consulting firm and the property owner for more information, Angelo Balbo Management LLC, but did not immediately receive a response.
