Hundreds of people participated in the 13th annual 'Walk A Mile in Her Shoes' event Saturday morning in Fairfield.

The event was originally scheduled for April 26, honoring April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Awareness Month. It was postponed to May 31 due to unexpected weather conditions, according to The Center of Family Justice's White Ribbon Committee.

The walk supports victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. Participants walked down Post Road and ended at Old Town Hall, some while wearing high heel shoes.

Funds raised will benefit the Elizabeth M. Pfreim Camp HOPE America-Bridgeport – a summer camp and mentoring program for young survivors of domestic and/or sexual assault.

Anyone who has experienced domestic violence can also call the center's 24/7 hotline at 203-384-9559.
