Hundreds of people laced up and pounded the pavement to help find a cure for breast and ovarian cancer.

The Breast and Ovarian Cancer walk happened at FDR State Park.

The walk is in its 25th year, and it’s held by the nonprofit Support Connection. The nonprofit offers counseling, education, fitness classes and more - catered to those affected by breast and ovarian cancer.

The event is the organization’s way of opening its doors.

Those in attendance enjoyed musical performances, dancing and food, while focusing on the deeper meaning behind the event.

"It's the hope. It's all about the will to fight and to know that you're not in this alone,” says Janice Thompson, of Peekskill.

Proceeds from the walk will go toward Support Connection's free services for those affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
