Hundreds of families lined up at Clover Stadium in Pomona this week to get food from local groups in the community.
The Regional Food Bank of the Hudson Valley distributed over 30,000 pounds of food on Thursday.
Officials say more than 54,000 county residents lost their benefits this month.
"This is a really urgent situation, you can see families here, families with kids, who don't know where they're going to get food, and they can't pay the bills already,” said Julian Palmer, of Together Unity Can Heal.
Another food distribution event at Clover Stadium is planned for Nov. 22. It will provide those in need with food for Thanksgiving.
