A warm and humid Thursday ahead with a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm. This is different than yesterday evening. Any pop-up would be more isolated, generally weaker than yesterday and the main threat would be slow-moving heavy rain. That said, latest data this morning suggests a mainly dry day with that rain chance there, but low. Nice, but still noticeably humid weather moves in tomorrow through most of the weekend.
NWS ALERTS:
No active watches, warnings, or advisories for Nassau or Suffolk Counties at this time.
TROPICS:
Tropical Storm Erin remains well out in the Atlantic, expected to strengthen into a major hurricane this weekend. While no direct threat to Long Island, it is still going to bring dangerous surf and rip currents locally next week. The News 12 Storm Watch Team will continue to track it closely.
Keep your outdoor plans today! That said, if you see the sky darken, there could be a shower or downpours around. Find shelter if you notice that and check the News 12 APP for the latest radar and future radar. Otherwise, some breaks of sun today. A warm and tropical-like feeling day with just that slight chance for an afternoon or evening shower or storm. Most of the day will end up dry according to the latest data trends. Nicer, slightly less humid weather arrives for Friday and the weekend.
