Some Hudson Valley Republicans are reacting to the Democrat's victory in the special election on Long Island for George Santos's former seat in the 3rd Congressional District.
Democrat Tom Suozzi defeated Republican candidate Mazi Pilip in a significant win for Democrats, who have reclaimed a seat previously held by the ousted Santos.
Rep. Mike Lawler (R) of New York commented, "It didn't shrink the Republican majority. George Santos shrunk it by his actions. He was unfit to serve in Congress."
Rep. Marc Molinaro (R) of New York added, "There are a lot of decisions that have occurred these last couple of months that have shrunk the majority. Perhaps George Santos being honest would have kept one more seat here in Congress."
Suozzi will now keep the seat until November when he will face another challenge to keep it in Democratic control.
