Hudson Valley Rep. Pat Ryan addressed the nation Thursday on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Ryan spoke of his military upbringing at West Point Military Academy.

He also represented the 4,400 cadets who are among his constituents.

"That's the thing about West Point: The day you take the oath to defend our country, you get to look the person in the eye who may one day, God forbid, send you to war and take their measure. And every time, Kamala Harris looked back with respect, with reverence," Ryan said.
