Rockland lawmakers are among those who have been in Milwaukee for this week’s Republican National Convention.
State Assemblyman Karl Brabenec was joined alongside Dutchess and Orange County GOP leaders as delegates.
They are also meeting prominent politicans from the Republican Party.
Brabenec told News 12 that it has been an exciting few days, which were to be finished off with former President Donald Trump speaking in his first big address since the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
"So he came into the convention center and it was just electrifying,” says Brabenec. “He's come in every single night of the convention. And the crowd just goes wild."
"I have to say, it's an honor and a privilege to be here, says Courtney Greene, of the Orange County GOP. “I really feel part of history is happening right now. The energy is electric."
As for security, they say there has been a large police presence with law enforcement from various levels, as well as metal detectors and other protocols in place.
