"The public will just kind of be surprised when you realize all the stuff that goes into this that we just normally don't talk about," says Sal Lifrieri, host of The Risk Advisor podcast.
Police are also monitoring for trouble back in the Hudson Valley. The Hudson Valley saw plenty of political rallies late last year, so nothing is off the table this week.
The latest security threat may come from the same people expected to protect the Capitol. The FBI is vetting all 25,000 National Guard members amid concerns about a possible insider attack.
