Several communities in the Hudson Valley region have received recognition as part of the state's Climate Smart Communities Program.
This initiative aims to assist local governments in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change on multiple fronts: Environmental, economic, and social.
The program provides incentives such as grants, free technical assistance, and rebates for electric cars.
In the Hudson Valley, the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson has been recertified at the silver level, the highest achievement a community can attain, with only ten municipalities receiving this honor.
Other communities in the region certified at the bronze level, including New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Tarrytown, and Catskill.
