Saturday marked the 13th year of the annual Hudson River Clean Up Day.
The event, held by The “Riverkeeper" organization, says its goal is to help restore additional stretches of the shoreline.
“A big part of our school curriculum is to focus on environmental stewardship, a big part of the school mission is to change the world for the good,” said Riverkeeper Sweep Site volunteer James Duval. “So to then have kids who are connecting those two and saying, if I am an environmental steward and I’m changing the world for the good, what does that look like in action?”
Over the last 12 years, 'river keeper' says it completed over one thousand service projects, uniting thousands of volunteers to clean up debris.
