Nearly all Rockland school districts closed Thursday due to the weather, while one school district went remote.

East Ramapo schools were in session virtually.

Interim Superintendent Anthony DiCarlo released the following statement:

"Thanks to the cooperation between the school district and the teachers union, remote learning days due to inclement weather have been a success for East Ramapo. Since the pandemic, all district students are equipped with digital devices like Chromebooks. Technology has enabled the district to support students even when dangerous conditions would have historically led to a snow day.”

News 12 spoke with Superintendent Dr. Erik Gundersen, with Suffern schools, as it was one of the many districts in Rockland that chose to have a snow day.

"Snow days in my mind bring children a great amount of joy," said Dr. Gundersen. "One of the things that COVID taught us and the remote work that we did with students is that clearly in person instruction is the best way to go."

News 12 is told Suffern has three snow days considered into their school calendar.
